Jason Andelman, Owner and Founder
Jason Andelman, a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) graduate and professional pastry chef, opened Artisan Confections in Arlington, VA in 2006. More than ten years later and now with a second retail location at the Mosaic District in Fairfax, VA, Artisan Confections continues to provide its Washington, DC-area neighbors and online customers with the finest handcrafted bonbons and chocolates. Jason was born and raised in the DC area and lives in Arlington with his wife Jane, daughters Sophie and Abigail, and crazy dog Winter. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, hiking, cycling, and Nationals baseball.
Chelsea Hartnett, Head Chocolatier
Chelsea was born and raised in Western Maryland and graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Culinary Program. Following graduation, she studied abroad in Switzerland at the DCT Hotel and Hospitality Management School. After graduating Valedictorian of her class at the European Pastry & Chocolate Program she went on to work at the Hotel Hof Weissbad in Weissbad, Switzerland. In 2011 Chelsea returned to the United States and joined Artisan Confections where she continues to pursue her passion for chocolate. Chelsea enjoys honing her craft, creating new flavor ideas, and formulating seasonal recipes. She is also responsible for training new employees and directing production. When she’s not whipping up a batch of your favorite bonbon, Chelsea enjoys spending time with her husband Joe and their Labrador retriever June Bug. She and Joe enjoy outdoor activities including lake fishing, horseback riding, traveling, exercising, and snow skiing. Chelsea also enjoys cooking, going to country music concerts, traveling, and spending time with family.
Emily Anderson, Assistant Chocolatier
Emily was born and raised in Northern Virginia and attended the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) for Baking and Pastry in New York. She worked locally in the DC/Northern Virginia area as well as the Northern California for two years following school. Chocolates and confections have always been a great passion of Emily’s and she was thrilled to become an Assistant Chocolatier at Artisan Confections in October of 2016. Emily loves working alongside Chelsea creating new and exciting chocolates! In her spare time she hangs out with her fiancé Joe and pitbull mix Roxy. Emily is also very close with her family and loves to see them as much as possible.
